To get the correct Movement Joint for your project the following criteria need to be considered.

1. Weight load and traffic over the joint.

For Car showrooms, Supermarkets and retail premises are typical projects where aluminium based movement joints are used. They provide good movement accommodation and excellent tile edge protection.

For commercial and industrial use where the weight over the joint is high, (Forklift trucks and loaded heavy pallet trucks), Stainless steel supported movement joints are a better choice. Stainless steel is also recommended for where chemicals are present, for example in swimming pool areas and food production units where an aggressive cleaning regime is required.

Brass based movement joints whilst being strong and having a high resistance to chemical attack are less popular and are more chosen for their traditional appearance.

2. Colour co ordination.

Every project has an aesthetic; a lot of effort and time is spent on choosing the right type and                           colour of floor covering. Movement joints MUST go where movement joints must go. At the worst           case thick black mastic joint through the middle of your design is not going to be acceptable.

So -

1. Select the type of profile your project needs,

2. Decide on the infill colour that best suits your tile surface, (or grout). You can quote a RAL

reference or send us a small piece of material for a colour match.

The result will be a movement joint that won’t clash or intrude on your design.

Minimum quantity – 1 x 2.5mtr length.

Delivery time – Bespoke colours, normally 3 working days.

Stock colours next day to site.

Important Tip

All profiles are sized according to their internal dimensions. The fixing flange is the depth of the adhesive bed. Therefore for a 10mm thick tile order a 10mm movement joint. The movement joint is actually slightly larger at 11.5mm overall, (to allow for the adhesive), this create a situation where the surface of the movement joint is slightly below that of the tile. Confused? Well don’t worry; we know what we’re doing. Just tell us the thickness of your floor covering when you order.
